The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) represents firms nationally and is the voice of the engineering industry in Washington, DC, and throughout the nation. It is a federation of 52 state and regional councils, including those in Texas and Houston.

ACEC Houston accomplishes its goals by working closely with local governments and agencies, including Harris County, the City of Houston, METRO, TxDOT, and others, on policies and issues that affect the industry. It does this by utilizing its monthly Chapter Membership Meetings, standing committees, multiple task forces, and its Government Affairs Committee.
